Steps to Success Project - Ended 30 November 2017
‘Steps to Success’ followed on from a pilot project that was funded through the Big Lottery Recession Fund. The project empowers people who are furthest away from the labour market to develop their employability skills. In this current economic climate people are facing many barriers to securing sustained employment, particularly those who have no experience or who have not worked for some time. DEAP work in partnership with many key agencies that support people to overcome many barriers in areas such as finance, education, and health. DEAP will signpost clients to appropriate agencies when required ensuring that clients are provided with a holistic service that meets their needs.
Clients are empowered to set realistic achievable goals to help them towards a positive destination of their choosing.
Steps to Success Since opening our doors on 13th August 2010, DEAP Ltd has gained a reputation for employability support covering Angus and in its first year, over 1300 people engaged with the project and were helped to overcome a number of different barriers. Due to the success of this project, DEAP Ltd was delighted when it secured additional funding through the Big Lottery to run the Steps to Success project for a further 3 years. We are now about much more than just employability, we are able to help people maximise their potential whatever their initial goal may be, from boosting their confidence, engaging with new people, improving their computer skills and a whole range of other social aspects. We now tailor the client’s time with us to suit their individual needs, to help them overcome such obstacles as stress, anxiety and low self esteem, allowing them to grow in confidence and motivation. We will always offer assistance towards employability skills including interview skills, CV workshops, IT support and job application advice featuring strongly on our monthly timetable. The Board and Management of DEAP recognise the commitment and hard work of the team and are very proud of their achievements
