A Passion for Fashion: Jayde's Story

Jayde was referred to NextSteps2 in March 2021 during lockdown. She was no longer in school and searching for her next steps in her future. Unsure of what she wanted to do, Jayde hadn’t enjoyed school and didn’t feel college would be for her. We had talked about apprenticeships and the different kinds that are available that did not include days at college. We reached out to Skills Development Scotland for further support.

After a few discussions with the youth support workers, we found out Jayde had a keen desire to work with in the fashion industry and felt retail would be a good starting point for her. She’s currently in the process of organising a placement with the British Heart Foundation.

A quote from Jayde: ‘Progress: you might now be where you want to be, but you’re not where you used to be.’
