Next Steps Youth Worker
I joined the Next Steps Project as a student on placement in January 2012 when I was studying Community Learning and Development at Dundee University.
I loved it here so much that when a youth worker position arose I applied and started as a full time youth worker here on 1st of May 2012.
I support young people aged 15-25 in a wide range of issues that affect their daily lives, helping to promote independent living, employability and training amongst others. I am always on hand to offer support to anyone for anything they feel they need supported with.
In addition to this I provide CSCS training to anyone aged over 16 who would like to enter the field of construction and I also offer Care training for anyone wanting to get into the Care Sector.
I have great relationships with every young person that comes through the door and make a point of getting to know each person individually and ensuring that they get the best opportunities available to them both individually and in group sessions.
I feel that my life experiences have helped me empathise, understand and connect with young people and the issues they may face.
I am currently a First aider for DEAP, a Fire warden and also carry out Health and Safety checks for client placements.
